How to operate a metallographic microscope?

1. Preparation before use:
Turn on the power, select and install the appropriate eyepiece and objective lens according to the inspection requirements to obtain the required magnification;

2. Operation steps:
1. Turn on the power switch and adjust the light intensity adjustment knob to the appropriate level; light intensity;

2. Place the observed sample on the platform, and move the sample to the top of the objective lens;

3. Select the observation path and set it through the observation/camera selection lever;

4. Rotate the 10X objective lens into the optical path, slowly rotate the coarse focusing handwheel to raise the worktable, and observe the field of view of the eyepiece until it appears in the field of view of the eyepiece, until the image outline of the sample appears in the field of view of the eyepiece. Then use the fine focus handwheel to focus the specimen until the image is clear. Rotate the torque adjustment ring to coarsely adjust the torque of the handwheel for comfortable use;

5. Adjust the lens barrel to adapt to the pupillary distance and moderate
(1) Observe through the eyepiece and adjust the observation tube until the images of the left and right fields of view are exactly the same;
(2) Focus the sample on the right eyepiece tube until the image is clear. Use the diopter adjustment ring of the left eyepiece tube to focus the left eye until the image is clear;

6. Adjust the field diaphragm: Gently pull out the field diaphragm lever on the left side of the microscope frame to slightly reduce the diaphragm aperture. Turn the two field centering knobs on the metallographic microscope frame to adjust the field diaphragm image to the center of the field of view. While advancing the field diaphragm, open the field diaphragm until the diaphragm image is inscribed with the periphery of the field of view. If the image cannot be accurately centered, re-center it. Open the field diaphragm until the diaphragm diameter is approximately larger than the field of view.

7. Adjustment of the aperture diaphragm: remove the eyepiece, observe the exit pupil surface of the objective lens from the eyepiece tube, and pull out the aperture diaphragm lever at the same time to reduce the image of the aperture diaphragm on the exit pupil surface of the objective lens to 70% of the size of the exit pupil of the objective lens . When observing in the reflected bright field, it is more favorable to set the aperture diaphragm at 70%-80% of the numerical aperture of the objective lens.

8. Observe the microstructure with clear imaging, and conduct metallographic examination and tissue grade evaluation according to technical standards;

9. Open the image analysis software to perform corresponding image manipulation processing;

10. After the test is completed, turn off the power.

3. Matters needing attention:
1. The metallographic microscope should be placed in a dry, dust-free dust-proof cabinet;
2. All lenses have been calibrated and must not be disassembled without permission. When oil is dirty, you can use lens tissue to wipe gently clean;

4. Daily maintenance and maintenance:
1. When the stage is not working, heavy objects should not be placed to prevent damage to the lifting mechanism, and the moving parts are often lubricated;
2. When the instrument is not working, the power line should be cut off.
